Can septoplasty and rhinoplasty be done in the same surgery?

If a breathing problem and an aesthetic expectation exist together, the two procedures can be planned in a single surgery.

Can septoplasty and rhinoplasty be done in the same surgery?

Short answer: often, yes

When a deviated nasal septum (septal deviation) and an aesthetic concern are present together, septoplasty and rhinoplasty can generally be done in the same surgery. This decision is made according to the examination findings.

Why are they done together?

When the shape of the nose is changed, the structures inside it also need to be rebalanced. The septum is both the internal support of the nose and part of the airway. Planning the two procedures together means a single anaesthetic, a single recovery period and a more cohesive result. In addition, cartilage taken from the septum can be used to support the nasal structure when needed.

When are they planned separately?

If there is only a functional complaint and no change in the appearance of the nose is wanted, only septoplasty is performed. If the breathing problem comes not from the septum but from enlarged turbinates (conchae) or sinus disease, the treatment plan is set accordingly.

How long does recovery take?

Recovery from the combined surgery is similar to that of rhinoplasty alone: rest in the first week, a return to daily life within a few weeks, and the nose fully settling between six months and one year. Post-operative instructions are given individually.

How is the decision made?

First your complaint and expectations are listened to, then the nose is examined. If needed, additional assessments of breathing function are made. You can write on WhatsApp with your photos for a preliminary consultation.
