No. As the shape of the nose changes, the structures inside it must also adapt to the new dimensions. A straight septum and a middle vault that directs airflow are important for breathing function. For this reason rhinoplasty aims to ease breathing as well as to improve appearance.

It takes 3–4 hours on average. It may take longer if this is considered necessary for the result; patient health and the result take priority over duration.

Open rhinoplasty is generally preferred. The open technique gives the best command of the surgical field and certainty about the result. It is performed through a few-millimetre incision on the tip of the nose, and the scar becomes inconspicuous over time.

A long consultation is held and an effort is made to understand your wishes and expectations. All parts of the nose are examined and photographs are taken from at least seven angles. The images are reviewed with you and the risks and benefits are discussed. You are given some forms to fill in; if needed, a second consultation is held before you decide.

It is a rhinoplasty approach performed through a few-millimetre incision on the tip of the nose. By opening the nasal tip area, the desired procedures can be carried out comfortably.

It is not preferred in adolescents who have not completed their growth. Although surgery for functional problems can be done at earlier ages, waiting until 18 is preferred for cosmetic surgery.

Pay attention to your diet, do not smoke and protect your nose from knocks. Sleep with your head elevated, do not blow your nose, do not lift heavy objects, and avoid very hot drinks and steamy baths. Follow the personal instructions you are given.

Return to daily life varies from person to person, between one week and two months. The nose fully settles between six months and one year.

For desk jobs, most patients can return between the first week and ten days; the waiting period is longer for physically demanding work and sport. The personal plan is clarified at the check-up examination.
